Memphis Heart Clinic continually engages in progressive therapies, focusing on new research and procedures. One example of just such a therapy is carotid stenting which allows a physician to place stents in the carotid artery.

Previously available only to patients with a high risk of complications during surgery who have symptoms of stroke or TIAs, the procedure affords yet another treatment option. Today, however, three of our physicians, Dr. Himmelstein, Dr. Shala and Dr. Subramanian are involved in a research protocol which explores carotid stenting in patients who have not experienced symptoms or have high risk of complications during surgery.
