Memphis, TN-October 12, 2007 Memphis Heart Clinic is pleased to welcome Vasili Lendel, M.D to its practice. Dr. Lendel is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Dr. Lendel grew up in Siberia where he began his medical education at the young age of 16. A compelling desire to help others led Dr. Lendel to achieve his diploma as a Registered Nurse in 3 years and then to further his education in medical school. While attending medical school in Russia, Dr. Lendel was honored with the Russian Government Award for Academic Excellence. This scholarship allowed him to continue his medical training at the esteemed Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He received many honors while training including membership to The Alpha Omega Alpha, Honour Medical Society, The Department of Surgery Prize for highest standing in the final examination and multiple distinctions during rotations.
Upon completion of his medical degree, Dr. Lendel came to the United States where he finished his Internal Medicine Residency, Cardiology Fellowship and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Penn State in Hershey, PA. During his cardiology fellowship, Dr. Lendel was awarded chief cardiology fellow.
Although Dr. Lendel’s primary focus is interventional cardiology, he is skilled in diagnostic cardiology as well as peripheral vascular interventions and will practice at the clinic’s Southaven, MS location. Dr. Lendel’s decision to specialize in cardiology was a natural fit. He feels no other specialty offers such a wide range of diagnostic, clinical and treatment challenges. Dr. Lendel also states that practicing cardiology allows him to fulfill his personal mission of helping others by offering “hope, healing and education to those in need”.
Outside of work, Dr. Lendel enjoys spending time with his wife, who is also a physician, and their daughter. Together they enjoy many activities such as traveling, hiking, boating and reading; however Dr. Lendel’s favorite hobby is yet another outdoor activity, fishing.
