David H. Kraus, MD, FACC, FACP, Memphis Heart Clinic Cardiologist, Receives Board Certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology

February 2, 2011 MEMPHIS, TN Memphis Heart Clinic, a recognized national leader in cardiovascular care, announced today that David H. Kraus, MD, FACP, FACC, recently earned Board Certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology from the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Dr. Kraus is one of a select group to receive board certification in this specialty of cardiology. Only 264 physicians nationwide qualified to take the test with 86% earning certification.

A founding partner of Memphis Heart Clinic, Kraus has treated patients for over 20 years as a consultative and interventional cardiologist. A native Memphian, he earned his Medical Degree from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences and is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases.

Kraus played a key role in establishing Memphis Heart Clinic’s Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, designed to help patients avoid hospitalization by improving quality-of-life therapies and monitoring. In 2007 he was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for excellence in cardiac care and met similar NCQA criteria for management of Cardiology patients in 2010. Kraus presently serves on the Quality Improvement Committee for the Baptist Memorial Hospital’s Heart Failure Quality improvement initiative as a physician co-director. Kraus has participated in numerous Cardiology research trials and presently is a principal investigator on a number of ongoing trials studying the outcomes in patients with systolic and diastolic heart failure related syndromes.
