Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Shirwany received his medical degree from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his post-graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis. He served as Chief Fellow during his cardiology fellowship. Dr. Shirwany is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography.

Prior to joining the Memphis Heart Clinic, Dr. Shirwany served as Staff Physician at the VA Medical Center, Memphis, and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, for over five years. In addition, he served as the Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at the UT Bowld Hospital, Medical Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at the Regional Medical Center (MED), and Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the VA Medical Center, all in Memphis. Dr. Shirwany still maintains his academic relationship with the University as Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine.

Dr. Shirwany has several publications in medical journals, such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and Echocardiography. He has been involved in numerous clinical research trials. His personal interests in clinical practice are consultative cardiology, interventional cardiology, and echocardiography.

Dr. Shirwany is married with one son.  His wife, Dr. Uzma Shirwany, is a physician at the VA Medical Center in Memphis. When he is not at work, Dr. Shirwany enjoys spending time with his family and working in his garden.
