Curriculum Vitae

A founding partner of Memphis Heart Clinic, Dr. David Kraus has worked tirelessly for 20 years as a consultative and interventional cardiologist, bringing first-rate care to many Mid-Southerners.

A native of Memphis, Dr. Kraus completed his undergraduate training with honors at the University of Memphis and completed Medical School at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences, graduating in 1978. He has served as Associate Director of the cardiac laboratories and Associate Director of the Echocardiography Lab for Baptist Memorial Hospital East and has been involved in over 30 research trials to date.

His accomplishments are numerous.

Dr. Kraus played a key role in implementing the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic, an initiative designed to help patients avoid hospitalization by improving quality-of-life therapies and monitoring. His most recent recognition came in 2007 when the National Committee for Quality Assurance recognized him, along with six of his colleagues, for his excellence in cardiac care.

His patient advocacy through the years has remained strong, translating into his participation in numerous research trials, and publishing results in leading medical journals. He speaks directly to patients through Memphis Heart Clinic support groups, offering patients the opportunity to learn. He mentors medical students at the University of Tennessee as well as working with the Nurse Practitioners Program of Tennessee .

Dr. Kraus is very active in the community. He serves on the ancillary staff at The Church Health Center and is a long time supporter of local charities including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Child Advocacy Center and the American Heart Association.

When not caring for his patients, Dr. Kraus enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and golfing.
