Having joined the physician team in 2004, Dr. David Lan, brings a whole new dimension to Memphis Heart Clinic’s team of physicians and the Memphis community as a whole.

An extremely accomplished physician with a sub-specialty in electrophysiology, Dr. Lan began his training in his native land, China, attending medical school at Shanghai Medical university. Dr. Lan practiced medicine in China until his passion for cardiology led him to the states.

Excelling from the start, Dr. Lan was recognized as the Outstanding Resident of the Year, and in 2000, was the Outstanding Senior Resident Teacher at UT. In 1993 Dr. Lan came to the United States to participate in an electrophysiology research fellowship at Tulane University. Since then, he completed further research and clinical training at LSU, UT Health Science Center and the prestigious cardiology program at the University of Alabama.

He plays an important role at Memphis Heart Clinic as an Attending Electrophysiologist in addition to seeing patients at Baptist and Methodist Hospitals. In 2007, Dr. Lan received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance for his excellence in cardiac care. With his excellent skills of catheter ablation and device implantation, Memphis Heart Clinic is one of a select few in Memphis routinely performing advanced catheter ablations including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and other complex arrhythmias.

Dr. Lan prefers to spend as much time as necessary with his patients in order to help them understand their disease and provide comfort.

When not spending time with his wife and two children, Dr. Lan enjoys playing recreational sports.
