Dr. Patel joined Memphis Heart Clinic in 2004, and since then, has become a spokesperson and advocate of women and heart disease, both through his practice and community work, specializing in diagnostic cardiology.
Originally from London, Dr. Patel received his medical degree from the prestigious Guy’s and King’s Medical College in London, eventually completing his residency at the University of Virginia and a cardiology fellowship at Penn State University. Dr. Patel holds board certifications in cardiovascular disease, nuclear cardiology and adult cardiac echocardiography. He is also trained in interpreting CT angiography of the heart.
Dr. Patel has received many honors and awards throughout his career, most notably the Pfizer Fellowship Award for the American Heart Association in 2003.
For several years, he has been actively increasing awareness about women and heart disease, speaking locally for “Women and Heart Disease” sponsored by the American Heart Association. Most recently, Dr. Patel was named Chairman of Medicine at Baptist Desoto Hospital where he has also served as the Quality Assurance Physician since 2006. In 2007 along with six of his colleagues, Dr. Patel was recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance for his excellence in cardiac care.
Whether he’s teaching a smoking cessation class or educating women about the risk of heart disease, Dr. Patel’s dedication to his patients extends far beyond the doors of Memphis Heart Clinic. When not found caring for patients or teaching others, Dr. Patel takes time off to travel and spend time with his family.
