Memphis Heart Clinic welcomed Dr. Stacy C. Smith to its team in 2008. Board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine, Dr. Smith is one of the Mid South’s leading interventional cardiologists who has been practicing in the Memphis community for several years. Licensed in Tennessee and Mississippi, Dr. Smith sees patients primarily in our Memphis office and admits patients to Baptist Memphis, Baptist DeSoto and Methodist Germantown Hospitals.
At the age of 6, Dr. Smith realized her love of the heart and desire to become a cardiologist. She pursued her passion through high school volunteering at several Institutes, learning about biomedical research and graduating from college with honors in chemistry. Dr. Smith attended the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, California where she earned her medical degree. She completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA while serving as Chief Resident at Brockton VA Hospital in Brockton, MA.
After her residency, Dr. Smith completed her Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology Fellowship training at Washington University School of Medicine/Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She also completed a Research Fellowship in Immunology/Cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine where she was a Howard Hughes Scholar. After completion, Dr. Smith joined the faculty at Washington University as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pathology with clinical responsibilities in both clinical and interventional cardiology. Dr. Smith continues her interests in research as an investigator in several international clinical trials.
Active in the Memphis community, Dr. Smith spends much of her time lecturing and volunteering with organizations such as the American Heart Association, where she holds a board position and Women Heart, a non profit foundation for women who suffer from heart disease. Dr. Smith is a Women’s Heart Disease Specialist and is convinced that it is vital for women to take charge of their heart health.
When she is not at work, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, and playing with her dogs.
